Weekly Cell Leadership Development Apr 10, 2018

This week:
  1. Reminder
  2. Admonishment
  3. Resources for Group

Reminder:
  • Please don't for get to do your attendance and Group report. Why is group report important? Gives a accurate gage to how the people are thinking, and can be used to pray for the group, as well as give whoever is teaching on Sunday's good resources to address those issues.
    • You can send it to me via Text or Email.
  • At all costs, DO NOT neglect DSC. (Daily Soul Care). "For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ." 2 Peter 1:8   (TV time, reading, playing, news, Social media, whatever needs to be cut out to have DSC should be sacrificed.)
    Admonishment:

The reason why the American Church is in such a mess can all be traced back to the issue of a lack of Biblical discipleship. Broken marriages, divorce, youth that have no passion for God, no desire to share the gospel, men not leading their households, lack of prayer, both individual and corporate, lack of good sound doctrine, the list goes on and on. It all comes down to disobeying the command to make disciples.

One can't disciple unless they themselves have been discipled. To many Christian's have not been Biblically discipled. They have not seen modeled the Christian life style in the context of small groups. Jesus developed his own group of twelve by precept (taught them moral code of behavior - see Mat 5-7) and by principle. (Modeled what He was teaching.) for three years. In the atmosphere of the group, these disciples were molded, shaped, trained, and then sent forth.

The same disciples became the key leaders of the early Church. Then they reproduced that which they were taught. Small groups meeting in homes fellowshiping, praying, and being taught doctrine. When you look at Titus 2 discipleship should produce sound positive environment where men, women, and young people learn from the older and learned, or from those that have already been disciples themselves. Jesus taught the Apostles, the Apostles taught Timothy and Titus, and Titus and Timothy taught others.

No other system provides the atmosphere to grow healthy Believers. And we have no other Commandment accept that which was given by the Master....

"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Weekly Cell Leadership Development Apr 2, 2018

    This week:
    1. Reminder
    2. Admonishment
    3. Resources for Group

Reminder: Please don't for get to do your attendance and Group report.
      • You can send it to me via Text or Email.
Admonishment: Primary goal of cell ministry (NTC) is to make disciples. The Lord gave us the format in which we are to follow. Small groups that have a leader who is mature in the faith and demonstrates and instructs those that are disciples. Christ’s last command to his disciples was for them to repeat the process and to reproduce new disciples. But how were they supposed to do that?
Cell Groups... Both the cell and the cell system work together to create a atmosphere of positive pure peer pressure. In the cell, a potential disciple is transformed through fellowship, prayer, and doctrine. Life transformation through Biblical principles taught and being lived out and modeled by the leadership, should bring about Holy Spirit behavioral modification... or Christ likeness.
Successful Discipleship looks like Titus 2:1-15

      • You, however, must teach what is appropriate to sound doctrine. 2 Teach the older men to be exercise self-control, to be worthy of respect, and to live wisely , and be sound in faith, in love and in endurance. 3 Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. 4 Then they can urge the younger women to love their husbands and children, 5 to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.
        • 6 Similarly, encourage the young men to be self-controlled. 7 In everything set them an example by doing what is good. In your teaching show integrity, seriousness 8 and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us.
          • 9 Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them, 10 and not to steal from them, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive. 11 For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. 12 It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, 13 while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, 14 who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good. 15 These, then, are the things you should teach. Encourage and rebuke with all authority. Do not let anyone despise you.
          • NOTICE the goal of sound doctrine is behavioral modification through Biblical instruction.
            • Older men should live a certain way.
            • Older women should live a certain way.
            • Young Women should live a certain way.
            • Young men should live a certain way.
          • It all comes down to taking the model we have been given in Scripture and put it into practice.

          Session 4

          This week:
          1. Reminder
          2. Admonishment
          3. Resources for Group

          Reminder:
I know that each CG (Connect Group) is on a different episode, but make sure you go over last weeks Out of the Comfort Zone Activity with your group.

          • Please fill out you 3 month attendance sheets an your Connect Group Report. Hand them in on Sunday Morning. Or, you can go to the bottom of the blog, and in the comments area, give the answers as follows. (Just type the response to the info below.)
            1. Connect Group Report;
              • Small Group Name:
              • Date:
              • Subject Discussed:
              • Total Number in Group:
              • Number of new people:
              • Have you followed up with people missing in your group? Yes or No
              • Have you encouraged your group between meetings? Yes or No
              • Have you followed up with those that were new? Yes or No
              • Comments, Concerns, Issues:
            1. Attendance:
              • Name of those attended
              • Name of those not attended
          • Admonish each memeber to fulfill the OCZA (Out of the Comfort Zone) , this is important to the whole of the study.
          • If they didn't not do the OCZA for that week, ask why, and then admonish them to do it.
            • Remember your role as an Overseer is to:
              • 2 Timothy 4:2 Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage--with great patience and careful doctrine.
              • Prepared: be ready
              • Reprove: to call to account, show one his fault, demand an explanation
              • Rebuke: charge one with wrong
              • Encourage: to admonish, exhort
              • It is important to understand that you ARE NOT CALLED to just facilitate at "Bible Study", but you are called to teach by virtue of correcting, rebuking, and encouraging. Basically, confront wrong thinking and action (tearing down) and then encourage right thinking (through Biblical instruction from the Word) which leads to right desires, that in turn produce right action. (fruit)

          Admonishment:

          1. Do not neglect daily soul care (DSC). Prayer and time in the Word is vital not only to your growth and stability in the faith, but it also makes you a sound a proficient minister. Without DSC you flounder in your faith and become an inefficient leader. DSC is also imperative to the spiritual growth of your Connect Group.
          2. How can we tell the difference between a true cell group and all the other small groups and programs within a church?
            1.  Spiritual Growth: The Cell helps people to grow in Christ by equipping them through sound teaching from Scripture. Cells are not just a social gathering that focus on fellowship, refreshments, and Bible curriculum. Cells must transform people for them to be effective.
              1. 2 Peter 2:1-2 Rid yourselves, therefore, of all malice, deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander. Like newborn infants, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation. You CAN'T grow, if you DON'T know.
            2. Community: Intimacy - The New Testament house churches were small and organic. True community as defined in Scripture can only truly be built in Small Groups.
            3. Evangelism: Cells must have a purpose outside of themselves. Cells should be a place where EVERY Christian learns to share the Gospel with non-Christians. Cell Groups and Share Groups (Share Groups being individuals in a Cell Group going out and reaching the lost) normally meet outside the church building to reach people where they work and live. Basically Obeying the Command to go into all the World and preach the Gospel. Again, this is what separates the Cell groups from other small groups. We want to get away from “come and see” strategy, and get into the Biblical mindset of  “we’ll go into the World... where you work and live” strategy. At the heart of the cell strategy is evangelistic penetration.
            4. Multiplication: Cells are born to multiply. The DNA of the cell is to give birth to another cell or daughter cell. The goal isn’t necessarily multiplication in itself. The goal is to make disciples who make disciples. A disciple must first be formed in the cell environment before multiplication can take place. Reproduction occurred all the time in the New Testament as house churches multiplied throughout the known World. (Acts 2:46-47).

            Follow Up on the WOTM

            This week:

            1. Reminder
            2. Admonishment
            3. Resources for Group

            Reminder:
Make sure to go over last weeks Out of the Comfort Zone Activity with your group to see if they called the two Christian friends asking the questions prescribed in the study guide. Admonish each memeber to fulfill the OCZA (Out of the Comfort Zone) each, this is important to the whole of the study.

            Admonishment:
Do not neglect daily soul care (DSC). Prayer and time in the Word is vital not only to your growth and stability in the faith, but it also makes you a sound a proficient minister. Without DSC you flounder in your faith and become an inefficient leader. DSC is also imperative to the spiritual growth of your Connect Group.

            • 1 Timothy 4:16  Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.
              • NOTICE the word save: Means- to save in the technical biblical sense;  to deliver from the penalties of the Messianic judgment,  to save from the evils which obstruct the reception of the Messianic deliverance:  from the punitive wrath of God at the judgment of the last day,
              • positively, to make one a partaker of the salvation by Christ . Since salvation begins in this life (in deliverance from error and corrupt notions, in moral purity, in pardon of sin, and in the blessed peace of a soul reconciled to God)
              • So being diligent in watching over how we live and reading and studying God's word, we not only are able to bring the lost a sound gospel message which will lead to their salvation, but, we will also lead God's people in soundness of thought, desires, and action... FRUIT.

            • 1 Timothy 4:15 Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress.

            • Acts 20:28 Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood.
            • Acts 6:4 and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word."

Group Teaching - The of Doctrine

Acts 2:42 They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.

Discuss Acts 2:42 in context of Connect Groups:

              • Fellowship as a Connect Group
              • Breaking bread together as a Connect Group
              • Prayer as a Connect Group
              • Doctrine as a Connect Group

              Discuss The Impotence of Doctrine

              What is doctrine?
In its basic sense, doctrine is any sort of teaching. Doctrine is teaching from God about God that directs us to the glory of God.

              The Source of Sound Doctrine
He has chosen to minister doctrine to us through His prophets and Apostles in Holy Scripture. until the day when God speaks to us face-to-face in His eternal kingdom, Holy Scripture is the source and norm of sound doctrine.

              2 Timothy 3:16
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.

              The Goal of Sound Doctrine

              Doctrine promotes:
              • Sound doctrine delivers us from the snare of false teaching (2 Tim. 2:24–26; Titus 1:9-11), which otherwise threatens sound spiritual development (Eph. 4:14
              • Doctrine serves God’s saving work both inside (1 Tim. 4:16) and outside the church (Matt. 5:13-16; Titus 2:9–10; 1 Peter 3:1–6).
              • Promotes God’s glory.
              • Directs our faith and love toward God in Christ, it enables us to walk in His presence that we might please Him in our walk.

2 Peter 1:5-11 For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6 and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7 and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins. 10 Therefore, my brothers and sisters,a make every effort to confirm your calling and election. For if you do these things, you will never stumble, 11 and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Ask Each Individual Are They Growing in their Faith by Reading and Studying God's Word daily.
